Health Claims

Health claims are regulated based on the body of scientific evidence available. Regulatory agency approvals are required in order to make health claims.

Asia Pacific
- Limited general level health claims are permitted e.g. protein for growth and development
- Reduced allergenicity can be highlighted for some formulations e.g. Singapore
- Nutrient content claims are permitted for vitamin and minerals

Europe
- Health claims are established and are constantly updated. In general, separate health claims are approved for infants or young children

Middle East and Africa
- Health claims are established and are constantly updated

North America
- USFDA and Health Canada have several approved health claims based on the body of evidence; however these are constantly being updated and do not generally refer to infants

Latin America
- Limited general level health claims are permitted however, this is similar to Europe and claims are generally not permitted on foods for infants and young children
